With an enchanting soundtrack and beautiful, watercolored backgrounds, grimgar of fantasy and ash is an endearing adventure series that is a thematic colossus. The lack of development and answers concerning the characters is disappointing, but their experiences mostly make up for this. Grimgar of fantasy and ash will not blow anyone away.

The anime is openly dreamlike, and like most dreams it moves uncertainly down a path with many turnings. Grimgar of fantasy and ash: 1 the light novel series is at four volumes so far, but for this review, i will focus on the first “level.” aptly named “whisper, chant, prayer, awaken,” the premise is a little foggy at first. The story and characters drive the show to be something more than just a show with a certain stylistic animation choice. Grimgar really makes you feel the fear of its heroes.

I’m an anime only and i’m going to start reading the manga soon, but after rewatching the anime, i have one question does haru and merry get into a serious relationship because that’s what i will mostly look forward to when reading. The watercolor motif adds a lot to the viewing of this show though. Grimgar of fantasy and ash's original novels aren't as introspective as their anime adaptation, but they still fray the edges of the isekai genre in interesting ways. This first season of 2016 anime really has some great looking shows and grimgar of fantasy and ash is definitely my favorite.

10/10 great anime worth watching. Ashes and illusions is so incomplete, i only recommend it to curious genre fans. Grimgar starts with a fight scene; Furthermore, hai to grimgar uniquely features many montages.

With only 12 episodes, grimgar doesn’t have opportunity to show more than a solid start to a story. There wasn’t an overpowered character in sight, combat felt realistic, characters suffered.
